SeeSaw.com – Go Live!

February 23, 2010

I’ve been working on the project now known as SeeSaw for a little over 2 years total so it is absolutely fantastic to see it go live. A huge amount of credit is due to everyone who worked on the project both past and present. Certainly some of the strongest technical people in the VOD space right now have all had a hand in it at some point.

We’ve worked incredibly hard to put out a site that is easy to navigate, responsive and above all else gives precedence to the content on the platform. Whilst at the moment we’re still officially in Beta it’s great to see such a positive response from the public. So what about whats’ next? Well I can tell you, you ain’t seen the half of it :)

Be sure to check out the site and leave us feedback/suggestions!

Tweening/Fading text in Flex

November 9, 2009

Recently I was trying to fade text in/out by tweening the alpha opacity. Unfortunately this didn’t work. I’d forgotten that in order to fade text you need to remember to set the blendMode property value to “layer” or BlendMode.LAYER in one of the following ways:

<mx:Text blendMode=”layer” />

yourText.blendMode = BlendMode.LAYER

Pretty simple really.

Finding your iPhone serial number with a broken screen.

October 28, 2009

So you dropped your iPhone, totalling the screen in the process, and now you need to find the serial number in order to book a repair at the Apple store. Fear not, the serial and IMEI numbers are actually printed on the SIM tray. Now you know.

So, finally it’s live!

June 24, 2009

I’ve finally gotten round to putting this site up. It has been incredibly quiet at work the last couple of days which could have been boring but has in fact meant that I have actually had time to put a smidge of effort into getting my website live.

I’m no designer and haveĀ  quite literally knocked the site up in a matter of hours – man, how I love wordpress – so if you’ve got any suggestions for improvements fling ‘em this way and if I like what I hear I may just implement it.

In an effort to not forget everything I do all the time the aim here is to blog about anything I’ve done that is likely to be useful in the future and maybe the occasional tutorial or POC depending on how the mood takes me. I’ll apologise in advance for the inanity of the blog but first and foremost I’m only writing for an audience of one – your’s truly!

Feel free to leave a comment or hit me up using the contact form, once I activate it. You can also catch me on all the social networks (see the links at the top). Apparently the social networking thing is all the rage these days, all the cool kids are doing it.
